which you were on the receiving end of the funds - you'd know about it. But we're here to report that's just not the case. It turns out, there's something called "unclaimed property" and that's money we citizenes had but either forgot about entirely or didn't know existed in the first place. We're talking about old checking accounts, stock investments, ex-employers who tried to pay but couldn't find us, abandoned safe deposit boxes, uncashed travelers checks, uncollected insurance policies and even secruity deposits to the electric company. At the moment, there are $32 billion worth of such funds and the government is sick of holding on to them.

 

Even if you're certain to be a pillar of financial organization who accounts for every dime you come across, it might be that some distant relative lost track of a few balances. The government will be happy to hand them to you.
